No, it doesn't need to be completely dark. But you don't want to do it under bright sunlight either. The emulsion exposure time is very slow. But the more UV in the light, the faster it will be exposed. Sunlight has lots of UV and can expose the emulsion very quickly. So I normally coat my screens in the evening under normal room lighting, then put the screens away into a dark place to dry.</description>
